Aramid(Nomex) Dust Filter Bag

Aramid Dust Filter Bag Overview

Aramid dust filter bags – often referred to in the market as Nomex® bags – are designed for medium to high temperature baghouses where polyester simply cannot cope anymore. The meta-aramid fibre has a tough aromatic backbone and holds its strength even when the gas stream sits in the 150–190°C range day after day. In real plants this means fewer bag failures, more predictable pressure drop and far less time spent changing filter elements during busy production periods.

At Omela Filtrations, we use aramid felt mainly in cement mills, asphalt mixing plants, lime and gypsum kilns, mineral dryers and selected metal processes where the gas is dry, the dust is abrasive and the owner wants a robust but still cost-effective solution. The bags can be supplied as pure aramid, aramid/PPS blends or with a PTFE membrane when lower emissions are required.

  • Temperature window: Continuous operation typically up to 190 °C with short peaks around 220 °C, assuming the gas stays above acid dew point and reasonably dry.
  • Media: Meta-aramid needle felt; optional blends and PTFE-laminated aramid felts available for tighter emission limits.
  • Mechanical behaviour: High tensile strength and excellent abrasion resistance, well suited to heavy dust loads and aggressive pulse-jet
    cleaning.
  • Gas chemistry: Comfortable in dry flue gas and hydrocarbon streams; less tolerant of acidic condensation or long-term high moisture.
  • Typical use: Cement production | Asphalt & aggregate drying | Lime, gypsum & minerals | Foundry & metal processing | Selected chemical duties with dry gas.

Key Performance Benefits

01
Reliable Filtration Efficiency

A carefully needle-punched aramid felt forms a stable dust cake and captures a wide spectrum of particle sizes. In cement mills, asphalt plants or mineral dryers this translates into clean stacks and steady emissions without the constant “tuning” some media require.

02
Confidence at Medium–High Temperatures

Meta-aramid keeps its strength where polyester has already “given up”. For baghouses running somewhere between 150 and 190 °C day in, day out, aramid is in its comfort zone and will hold its properties far longer than standard industrial felts.

03
Excellent Abrasion & Mechanical Strength

Many of the duties where aramid shines are not gentle: coarse dust, fast gas velocities and strong pulses. The fibre structure and Omela’s bag construction handle this abuse well, reducing wear at cage contact points and keeping seams intact under repeated flexing.

04
Long Service Life & Lower Maintenance Burden

When the gas is dry and the operating window is respected, aramid bags tend to run for years instead of seasons. Fewer change-outs mean less downtime, less labour on the baghouse floor and more time for the production team to focus on throughput instead of emergency maintenance.

05
Balanced Cost vs. Performance

Aramid sits in a very practical place on the cost curve. It is more capable than polyester or acrylic but does not reach the price level of P84 or PTFE. For many plants this is the sweet spot: enough temperature and strength headroom without paying for unnecessary ultra-high-end materials.

06
Omela Engineering Behind Every Bag

Each Omela aramid bag is matched to the cage design, air-to-cloth ratio and cleaning system of the actual baghouse. We check fibre batches, felt weight, permeability and seam strength so that what arrives at your site is not just “an aramid bag”, but a filter element tuned to your process.

INDUSTRIAL
APPLICATIONS

Omela aramid filter bags are at their best in dry, medium-high temperature processes with abrasive dust. Below are some of the applications where customers use them successfully year after year.

Cement Industry

Cement Industry

Raw mills, clinker coolers and cement grinding baghouses all place a lot of stress on filter media. Aramid offers the right blend of temperature capability and abrasion resistance to keep dust under control without constant bag replacements.

Asphalt & Aggregate

Asphalt & Aggregate

Hot aggregate dryers and asphalt mixing plants run with coarse, hot dust and frequent load changes. Aramid bags cope well with this mechanical stress while keeping emissions at the stack within permit levels.

Lime, Gypsum & Minerals

Lime, Gypsum & Minerals

Calcination and drying stages in lime, gypsum and mineral production often produce dry, abrasive dust streams. Here aramid’s mechanical strength pays off, helping baghouses stay online between planned shutdowns.
